They spent summers down the shore at their summer home and 5 years ago moved to the Ocean City, NJ area. When Carole was a young girl, both of her Nanas taught her how to cross stitch. Many years have passed since then and now she is a Nana herself to two beautiful grandchildren. In 2017 she picked up the needle again and discovered and purchased her first Stitch People Book. And so began A Lil’ Stitchin’ by Carole.

About Kate

After learning the basics of cross-stitch from her mum at a very young age, Kate showed an early affinity for all things needlepoint. She began winning kids' sections within county fairs entering her Brazilian embroidery pieces and she knew creating artwork with a needle and thread would be a lifelong passion. Now, no longer content with just stitching, she creates cross-stitch patterns and embroidery fonts that are enjoyed all over the world.

About Chelsea

Chelsea Nelson is the creator and owner of Auburn Hoops. Four years ago Chelsea and her husband, Brandon, re-invented the common embroidery hoop. Together they created and patented hoop design that not only holds fabric more taut than a traditional hoop but also frames your fiber art! When she’s not embroidering or running Auburn Hoops, Chelsea loves to spend time outside with her husband and three beautiful children. She also enjoys being actively involved at her church, gardening, baking, and basically anything that includes creating. One of her favorite parts of running Auburn Hoops is getting to work with so many talented artists!

Special Gifting Ideas

On Day 5, we’ll be shaking things up a bit by having a fun conversation and Q&A for the first half of the class and instruction from Lizzy for the second half! Our friend Karly Santiago from Cloth and Twig will be joining us again to have a conversation with Lizzy about fun and meaningful ways to gift your handmade presents. They’ll share some of their favorite ways you can delight your customers during the holidays as well as some of the best practices you should adopt to make the season fun rather than frantic! Lizzy will finish the class teaching about those holiday embellishments that make your holiday stitches shine!

About Karly

Karly started cross stitching as a means to unwind from attending births as a doula and childbirth educator. It helped her unwind after a long birth or stint of teaching. After a year of self taught cross stitching, and with the encouragement of friends and family, she opened Cloth & Twig Shop on a whim 5 years ago and hasn’t slowed down since. She loves to think outside the box by incorporating embroidery stitches into her portraits and using other materials besides thread to accentuate each one. She loves to stitch pillows, large scale portraits, and on clothing! Karly is a native of sunny California. She lives with her husband and two daughters. She is a lover of coffee, creativity, and encouraging words.

Does that sound like fun to you?!
